New C-mount Lenses for Machine Vision Provide Largest Image Circle

„Bad Kreuznach, Germany, January 20, 2004 – Jos. Schneider Optische Werke GmbH today introduces C-mount lenses with the largest image circle of industry’s compact lenses. The new high quality lenses enable the use of large CCD and CMOS sensors for high-end inspection, measurements and other Mega Pixel applications.
\r\n
\r\nThe two new Xenoplan lenses XNP 2.0/28 and XNP 2.8/50 with focal lengths of 28 mm and 50 mm and an image circle of 22 mm allow vision system integrators and equipment manufacturers to use large sensors with a size of e.g. 15mm x 15mm.
\r\n
\r\nA locking mechanism for the iris setting together with a robust design assure extreme reliable and precise measurements even in harsh production environments or crash test applications. A special focus mechanism allows a very fine focus adjustment and lock without any backlash.
\r\n
\r\nThe lenses feature a broadband anti-reflection coating for the spectral range of 400 nm to 1000 nm, which not only maximizes transmission but also improves image contrast thanks to reduced stray light. A low distortion design combined with high quality coating results in a leading optical performance that satisfies even most demanding requirements of next generation vision systems.
\r\n
\r\n“The result of an image processing system is limited by the quality of the image on the camera sensor, therefore the lens is an important success factor in the overall performance of a machine vision system, “ said Dr. Josef Staub, CEO of Jos. Schneider Optische Werke GmbH. “ The new lenses for large image sensors complete our existing family of compact lenses and help the system designers to enhance their resolution and imaging quality.”
