Ettlingen, November 26, 2005 – Vision Components GmbH, the market leader for programmable Smart Cameras now ships their new ultra-small Smart Camera models VC4018 and VC4016.

With a formfactor of only 36x35x80 mm, the intelligent cameras are even smaller than most industrial video cameras without built-in image processing capability. Both devices include a framegrabber, a built-in TMS320C64xx DSP with 400 MHz clock rate and incredible 3200 MIPS, as well as a 10/100 M Ethernet interface, an RS232 serial interface and 8 digital I/O lines with 24V signals.

Available in black-and-white or color, the CCD sensor of the VC4018 has a resolution of 640x480 pixels, the VC4016 comes with a 1024x768 pixel CCD. An external trigger signal may be applied for jitterless image capture with a programmable shutter down to less than 50 microseconds.

Like other models from Vision Components, the devices can be programmed using TI’s Code Composer Studio IDE. C and C++ are available as programming languages. Both models are shipped with the company’s royalty-free VCRT real time operating system with UNIX-like API.
