Intelligent near infrared camera for security applications Ettlingen – Vision Components’ new VC4067/NIR near infrared camera is a flexible, powerful image processing system. It is optimally suited for security tasks such as perimeter protection and access control. Thanks to an integrated high performance processor, the intelligent cameras execute all image processing routines and can completely replace conventional, PC-based systems. Measuring just 110 x 50 x 35 mm, the units can be integrated even in small spaces. Optional robust housings provide protection for outdoor applications. ![]() Thanks to its spectrum near the infrared range, the VC4067/NIR camera meets all requirements for night-time use. The photosensitive technology ensures highly precise images at wavelengths up to 1,100 nm. Even at a distance, image capture is effective. The intelligent cameras independently run functions such as license plate recognition and motion detection. They save and manage the test parameters, thus requiring no separate PC systems for image data processing. Users can easily adapt the cameras to specific requirements by means of the programming languages C and C++. Optionally, software libraries for many applications such as motion detection and face recognition are available. The compact vision systems analyze several images in parallel and transmit the data in real-time. Featuring an integrated 400 MHz processor from Texas Instruments, the VC4067/NIR has a computing power of 3,200 MIPS. The 2/3" CCD sensor has a 1,280 x 1,024 pixel resolution, providing a maximum frame rate of 14 fps and a freely programmable exposure time from 5 µs to 17 s. The VC4067/NIR is equipped with RS232 and Ethernet interfaces and an external trigger input that enables jitter-free image capture even at high reading frequencies. Standard configuration also includes four digital PLC inputs and four outputs and an SXGA video output.
