TOKYO -(Dow Jones)- U.S. precision instrument maker Cognex Corp. (NasdaqNM:CGNX - News) filed a complaint with the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) on Thursday against Nikon Corp. (J.NIK or 7731), the ITC said, according to Kyodo News.
" The Massachusetts-based Cognex requested the independent federal agency conduct an investigation into Nikon for infringing its patent on machine vision systems, the ITC said, according to the report.\r\n \r\n \r\nThe two group companies also subject to the complaint are Nikon Precision Inc., which is based in California, and Aval Data Corp. in Tokyo, Kyodo said.\r\n \r\n \r\nIf the ITC launches an investigation and finds that Nikon and the two affiliates are infringing Cognex's patent, they may be prohibited from selling machine vision systems in the U.S. market.\r\n \r\n \r\nAn official at Nikon's public relations department in Tokyo said the company is aware of the complaint filed by Cognex but that it has not confirmed details yet.\r\n \r\n \r\nMachine vision systems are used in semiconductor-producing equipment.\r\n \r\n \r\n Dow Jones Newswires\r\n \r\n 12-12-02 2308ET\r\n \r\n";0;68;3;"admin";"";0;"";0;0;0;0;0
