Basler Launches Two Megapixel Models in the aviator Camera Series
Ahrensburg, 3 November 2009 - Basler Vision Technologies is adding two new camera models to its aviator area scan camera series. This series is based on Kodak’s latest KAI-2050 and KAI-2150 CCD sensors.
Basler aviator cameras exhibit superior image quality, even at high image capture rates. The new models feature two megapixel resolution,  1600 x 1200 pixels or 1920 x 1080 pixels, at 67 or 62 frames per second respectively. The Basler aviator is equipped with Kodak’s state-of-the-art CCD sensors. The cameras provide progressive scan readout and global shutter technology.

They are an ideal fit for various applications such as semiconductor manufacturing, electronics manufacturing, metrology, and medical imaging. The aviator camera series is designed to meet the tough price demands in these markets while delivering extraordinary performance. With a starting list price of 2,390€, the aviator series makes it very attractive to redesign machines that use cameras based on earlier Kodak sensors while offering double the speed for higher machine throughput.
As a result of Basler’s extensive Camera Link interface and Kodak sensor experience, the Basler aviator offers excellent imaging results in terms of dynamic range and noise level, factors that will be measured and documented during the production of each camera using automated EMVA 1288 sensitivity testing.

To perform camera configuration, the aviator offers both the register-based type of interface commonly used with Camera Link cameras and a C/C++ high level programming API based on Basler's pylon platform. The Basler pylon driver and SDK package supports a more modern programming style and easier integration into software programs. The Basler pylon SDK includes extensive documentation and more than 100 code samples for quick integration results.
