Camera manufacturer IDS introduced two new high-resolution camera series with USB and GigE connections at VISION 2010. The new UI-2280 and UI-6280 series feature the Sony Sensor ICX-655 with a five Megapixel resolution. The 2/3 inch sensor has a global shutter mode and ensures distortion-free capture even for very fast moving objects. The USB version returns up to 6.5 frames per second, while the GigE version even offers a frame rate of up to 10 frames per second.
The new cameras are available in many housing options and either as monochrome or color versions. There are also several options available for the filter glass in front of the sensor. The high resolution of 5 Megapixels, the global shutter technology and the fast frame rate make the UI-2280 and UI-6280 model lines suitable for the most demanding image processing applications. The 3.45 µm pixels of the CCD sensor ensure high light sensitivity, and the relatively large pixel pitch makes selecting the right lenses easier. Many commercially available Megapixel lenses can be used on the UI-2280-C, so special lenses for extremely high resolution are unnecessary. The 2/3 inch size makes the cameras suitable for microscopic applications. They can replace cameras with the popular Sony Sensor ICX-285, which offers only a fourth of the resolution at the same size. Contact:
